James Arthur, ADHD, and New Music

James Arthur, renowned for his soulful voice and hits like “Say You Won’t Let Go,” opened about his struggles with mental health, including depression, anxiety, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

In a recent interview with The Sun, he reflected on his journey towards self-acceptance and mental well-being.

“Getting a diagnosis taught me a lot about why I struggled to fit in or felt unlovable at times. There is a lot for me to get past. It allows you to feel more understood. For me, my lack of attention — I am quite scatty — had been a problem.

All my relationships got better with everyone in my life from this diagnosis so it was good.”

Arthur also discussed how therapy has helped him live in the moment and find balance amid his responsibilities as a musician and father. His new album, “Pisces,” reflects his emotional and spiritual evolution.

Throughout his career, Arthur has achieved significant milestones:

  • Winning the ninth series of “The X Factor” in 2012

  • Releasing chart-topping singles like “Impossible” and “Say You Won’t Let Go”

  • Receiving nominations for prestigious awards, including the BRIT Awards

  • Using his platform to raise awareness about mental health issues

James Arthur’s candidness about his mental health journey serves as an inspiration, demonstrating that personal challenges can lead to profound artistic expression and success.
